wanted: Attractive & sturdy Craftsman-style rectangular dining room table with 2 leaves – capable of seating 8 or 10 with the leaves in, 4-6 without – for under $500. Something that will stay sturdy and last at least two generations. Any suggestions?

I recommend Ikea while you save up a couple of thousand for your dream table.
Well, I could maybe not eat lunch next year and spend $1000. I don’t mind used, I don’t mind veneers, I don’t mind a lot of things; I need something sturdy and not too ugly. How about 6-8, instead of 8-10?
