recommend your favorite Arts & Crafts shopping

Could you all do me a small favor and, in the comments below, list the shops you know of anywhere – in the US, Canada, the UK & elsewhere – that specialize in Arts & Crafts related items? I’m thinking of not only places like Ohmega in Berkeley, which sells both new and old shades, lighting, fixtures and hardware, but small furniture stores, art galleries that specialize in A&C tile and plein air painting, neighborhood antique dealers who have a good selection of A&C ceramics or wooden items. Bonus points if they are on the web.

update: reader Boe Miller offers us a list compiled over the past six months.

  1. For Minneapolis, this store has been great with both old lighting and reproduction for our old house – even the elec inspectors have commented on our great shades! The website doesn’t do justice though to the great collection of antique lights in the shop (and in the back).

  2. Highly recommended!
From their website: “Hill House Antiques is “Bungalow Style in the Berkshires”: Early 20th Century decorative arts featuring Arts & Crafts furniture / Mission furniture (Gustav Stickley, L&JG Stickley, Stickley Brothers, Limbert and others), art pottery and tiles (Rookwood, Grueby, Weller, Hampshire, Van Briggle, Roseville, Marblehead and more), metalwork, textiles, lighting and accessories.” http:/www.hillhouseantiques.com

  3. Hi,
A couple of things for you.
First, a reminder that the Chicago Arts & Crafts Show is next weekend on on the 17th and 18th. A list of dealers and details is here: http://www.artsandcrafts-chicago.com/
I’m sending out a mailing to people on my mailing list this weekend as a reminder and giving out a coupon for 15% off all of my stuff at the show.
Also, how are you doing on your list of shops that you’re compiling? I can give you a pretty good list if you don’t already have much.
Also, have you pursued any kind of article discussing the phenomenon of the Amish furniture stores around the country carrying Arts & Crafts style furniture? I’m picking up more and more Amish stores as customers these days. If interested, I can hook you up with a couple.
Also, I’ve got a new line of posters that we’re printing. These are based on original WPA posters. I have a couple of artists who are redrawing the posters in minute detail and then going to print with a commercial printer using an offset press on a matte finish paper. If you’d like to look at one, I’ll send a sample your way.
    Take Care,
