Mike Forte is in the process of turning his 1956 Palos Verdes Estates ranch house into a modern super-bungalow. This is far more than a simple remodel or facelift, though; while not a total tear-down and rebuild, this is a close to 95% alteration of the existing property. Personally, I think he’s just a little bit crazy, but the final product is sure shaping up nicely.
Hi,
I’m the crazy one building the house. My plan started a few years ago to just add a master suite to the house. As we went along, the project took a life of itself, the budget tripled, and the house is turning into a real work of art. I mean to update the site at least every few weeks. The completion of this project is probably around January 2006. Stay tuned to see how it comes out. Paint swatches are going on the walls now and Greene & Greene style details are found throughout the home with modern improvements thrown in.
My new projection for a completion date is now around mid-May 2006. Who knew how much time detailed woodworking would take?
Guess what everybody? The house is done and I have posted the finish pictures online at my new web site, http://CraftsmanRemodel.com

Wow. I’ll visit your site to see the finished project. I recently purchased a circa 1970’s walkout-ranch with the plan to do a cosmetic facelift-the final product will be prairie style…
