You refer to the Gambol House as a summer house. In fact, it was the WINTER retreat for the Gambles (of Proctor and Gamble, Cincinnati, Ohio). They summered in northern Michigan. Pasadena was a mecca for wealthy folks from the east and midwest during the cold winter months in those areas.
