Greg Emel is engaged in seemingly insurmountable task of converting his 1942 Portland, Oregon "war cottage" (that is, a simple cottage design popular during and just after WWII) into a circa-1914 Craftsman bungalow. He does seem to be getting a lot of work done, though; wish him luck!
remodel / restore
homeportfolio.com
This is the neat toy of the moment – Home Portfolio allows you to look up thousands of kitchen and bath fixtures, flooring and an almost ridiculous amount of other stuff (there are literally 200 range hoods alone, and don’t even get me started on the sinks and furniture) … Their database contains the current manufacturer’s price, availability and the names & locations of dealers close to your zipcode, and there are plenty of items that would like quite at home in a Mission, Craftsman or Prairie home.
Chicago Bungalow Rehabs
from the site:
In the spring of 2002, bungalow homeowners and professionals gathered to exchange ideas to create adaptable and energy efficient Chicago bungalows. Concepts and preferences exchanged in this charette became a reality in the four model bungalows.
The Historic Chicago Bungalow Association and City of Chicago, the Chicago Chapter of the AIA and various local agencies arranged to purchase and rehab four vacant bungalows … Each model home was rehabilitated to conform to the Historic Chicago Bungalow Initiative Design Guidelines and to incorporate a wealth of energy efficient, environmentally friendly products and design ideas. You now have the opportunity to tour each bungalow and see, in detail, the innovative design solutions.
Remodeling on Television

Home & Garden Television (HGTV) has transcripts and stills (and sometimes video) of the thousands of episodes of their programs available online. Many episodes are devoted to, or at least touch on, working with Arts & Crafts homes. I’ve gone through their database and pulled a couple of dozen episodes; hopefully you’ll find some of them useful, or at least entertaining (maybe that would be a good motto for Home & Garden Television). The full list is available in the extended post, below.
Del.icio.us list
The link aggregator & collaborative bookmarking system del.icio.us is a good place to find all sorts of interesting stuff – including this immense list of Arts & Crafts & woodwork-related links, compiled by del.icio.us user Fabrizius.

catalog & mail-order hardware
There are a number of fantastic paper resources out there for anyone renovating their craftsman home. One of the most complete resources is the Van Dykes Restorers free catalog, which sells everything from Victorian gingerbread to oak and brass registers and every kind of stripping and finishing product known to humankind. They also carry kits for building a wide variety of furniture items. At the top of the list as far as quality goes is Rejuvenation Hardware, which sells all sorts of fixtures and hardware (especially lighting!) out of their shop in Portland. They also do a thriving mail-order business.
The folks of the Craftsman Homes Connection, who seem to do most of their business online now, have a very attractive and jam-packed catalog, with an emphasis on decorative hardware and accessories.
