If you are a homeowner, you must know about the joy of filling up your home with new furniture and decor. However, buying furniture and decor from the store can often burn a hole in your pocket, and this is why many homeowners resort to DIY.

When you undertake a DIY project, it not only helps you save money, but these projects help you pass some time, and you get to enjoy creating things for life. It is observed that DIY projects can even enhance your creativity and make you a well-rounded person.

If you’re new to DIY projects, then it is best that you only take small woodworking projects to hone your skills. But, as you go, you can choose to make more complex things for your home.

Here are some small wooden projects that you can undertake.

1. An outdoor accent table

It does not matter if you have a small balcony or a big backyard; having an outdoor table and some chairs will encourage you to spend some time outdoors. An accent table can serve as a coffee table for your evening cup of joe on the balcony or in the backyard.

Making the frame of an accent table is relatively easy. Also, when it comes to choosing the countertop for your table, you can choose from a variety of materials.

Since you are DIY-ing the project, you can repurpose any concrete slabs, old tiles, and even glass to make a countertop for your accent table. If you already have a table for your outdoor seating, you can change the countertop as well if you feel like it.

2. Wooden planters

Planters can liven up a space by adding freshness to it. A plant serves as a great decor item as it makes the room more lively and breaks the monotony of colors.

If you like keeping plants in your home, then you can easily make planters using wood pallets. Wood pallets are affordable and easy to work with since you can nail or glue them together to make a planter. What makes these planters interesting is the warmth they add to the space especially when your home is based on rustic interior design.

To take it up a notch, you can even color these wooden planters using paint or spray paint to match or contrast them with your interiors.

3. Welcome sign

It is arguably one of the easiest small woodworking projects you can undertake.

To make a wooden welcome sign you just need a handful of supplies, such as glue, paint, and some wood. You can place the welcome sign right outside your home in the yard, or if you live in an apartment complex, you can hang them outside your front door.

The best part about such a welcome sign or name sign is that you can customize them however you want. Many people even imprint their hand-prints on the welcome sign to make it more personalized.

4. Candleholder

A candle holder can come if you like using fragrant candles around your home. You can take a log of wood and make holes into it broad enough for your candles to fit in.

You can make a candle holder for a single candle or if you take a long log of wood, you can make a holder for multiple candles.

These are some small woodworking projects that you can undertake to spruce up your home. But, this is not an exclusive list as you can make anything for your home as long as you have the right woodworking skills, tools, and creativity.
